Writing Workshop with Dr. Brad Wilcox (Mon. 23 Jun, 2014 11:00 am - 12:00 pm)

This unique two-day workshop provides students (grades 2-6) with writing tutoring with professional teachers. Students will begin with writing instruction from Dr. Brad Wilcox of the BYU McKay School of Education before splitting up into small group instruction. All participating teachers are enrolled in BYU's Continuing Education course on writing instruction. Space is limited and both days are required, please call 801-229-7161 to register.

Summer Concerts in the Park: Aspen Winds (Mon. 23 Jun, 2014 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Since its beginning in 2011, Aspen Winds seeks to educate and inspire audiences through creative, quality performances of chamber music.  Collaborating with musicians holding performance degrees from major universities and music schools across the country, Aspen Winds brings years of study, practice and performance together to guarantee the best possible quality in each performance and outreach opportunity.

Children’s Summer Reading: Art Carnival (Tue. 24 Jun, 2014 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Come get creative with us as the library turns into a giant art studio. Each child will leave with a couple pieces of their own artwork. Wear something you can get messy.

Teen Summer Reading: Cyanotypes with Brad Slade (Tue. 24 Jun, 2014 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Come create your own cyanotype, a monochromatic photograph exposed in sunlight, with BYU photographer, Brad Slade, for a hands-on workshop. 

Island Style Dance (Tue. 24 Jun, 2014 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Come feel the magic of the islands performed by the Island Style Dance Studio and Performing Company. Dedicated to preserving and sharing the dances of the Polynesian islands, this family-friendly dance performance is sure to delight audiences young and old.

Shakespeare for Kids: Comedy of Errors (Wed. 25 Jun, 2014 11:30 am - 12:30 pm)

Comedy of Errors: It’s mistaken identities all around, as a pair of separated twins (and their identical twin slaves, both named Dromio) cross paths, causing all sorts of trouble for one another without even realizing the other exists.  

Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft (Wed. 25 Jun, 2014 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Tax season has closed. Some are filing extensions to file their taxes after the due date, while others are receiving tax returns. However, there has been many cases of identity theft where as a result, tax returns were stolen. Centro Hispano's Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic will be at the Orem Library on May 14th to present on Protecting Yourself from identity Theft.

Topics covered will be how identity happens, how to protect yourself from ID theft, and what to do if you're a victim. The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is operated by a qualified Tax Practitioner with a supervising Enrolled Agent that serves as the Clinic’s qualified tax expert, both of whom have extensive experience with federal tax controversies. This service is sponsored by the Taxpayer Advocate, with the purpose to educate members of the community about their tax rights and responsibilities.

Monte Belknap’s Violin Studio Recital (Wed. 25 Jun, 2014 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Join acclaimed violinist and BYU violin professor for a performance featuring the musical prowess of his young violin students.

About the City of Orem Library

The Orem Library is open Monday through Friday 9am until 9pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 6pm. We are closed Sundays and Holidays. Click here for a list of observed holidays.

If you need to return books outside of these hours, a 24 drive through book and media drop is located on the North side of the Library.

The Main Library is located at 58 North State Street in Orem, Utah at the north end of the City Center Complex (on the northeast corner of State and Center Streets). Parking is to the east of the library building and is accessed from 100 North. If you need assistance please call 229-7050.
