Orem Stories (Tue. 17 Jan, 2017 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Please join the Orem Arts Council for an art show opening celebration featuring portraits of influential Orem residents. Art will remain on display through January 31. 

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Students and others are invited to submit portraits of Orem residents, past or present, who have influenced them. All work must be completed and delivered to the Circulation Desk, along with a written statement about the portrait, at the Orem Public Library by 9 pm on Thursday, January 12. Please check with your school’s art teacher or Arts Council Member Cindy Clark at (801) 425-5142 if you have questions or need to coordinate pick up of art pieces.

Would you like to become one? Join this coding/gaming club for kids 8 and up Wednesday afternoons to meet other computer coders and mentors, learn new languages, and work on coding, gaming, and other tech projects. Orem Library Book Club: My Grandfather’s Blessings (Wed. 18 Jan, 2017 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

In January the Orem Library Book Club will read My Grandfather’s Blessings by Rachel Naomi Remen, a cancer physician and mastery storyteller. Dr. Remen’s grandfather, an orthodox rabbi and scholar of the Kabbalah, saw life as a web of connection and taught his granddaughter that blessing one another fills our emptiness, heals our loneliness, and connects us more deeply to life.
