We don’t just do summer reading programs here. Our Shared Reading program is designed to help your child keep up the good reading all year-round. The simple program encourages you and your child to become reading partners, as together you set reading goals and talk about what you read. You can create your own reward system for meeting your goals, but the library, through generous donations from local businesses, also provides several prizes for your child to choose from once a month. Sign up at the Children’s Reference Desk.
Children's and Teen Summer Reading Programs and Rewards
Each year, starting in early June, you can sign up for Summer Reading at the Orem Library! Kids and teens can earn weekly rewards such as coupons to local restaurants, arcades and museums when they set and meet reading goals. Come to the library often throughout June and July to attend a variety of free programs for kids and teens, including storytimes, games, art workshops and other events.
Catch regular screenings of Hollywood classics, blockbuster hits, and the finest of cinema from around the world each week, Monday at 6:30 PM, Friday mornings at 10:00 and Friday evenings at 6:30 PM in the Media Auditorium. And don't miss Dr. Dean Duncan's film presentations the second Friday of each month.
Monday−Thursday (during the school year), 3:00−6:00 PM, Children's Mezzanine. The Library Study Hall program at the Orem Library provides elementary through middle school-aged students the opportunity to work one-on-one with a librarian in using library resources to complete school assignments. Librarians can help students locate books for projects or reports; use our databases to find information; and use our computers and computer programs to increase their abilities or complete assignments. The Library Study Hall is not a tutoring program. Librarians do not teach concepts or do homework with or for students. Parents must stay on the mezzanine with students under the age of 10.
