Ancestry.com With more than 24,000 historical databases that include 5 billion names, Ancestry.com also allows users to use powerful tools to complete their own family trees. You can use Ancestry to search the Social Security Death Index, the US Census, and records from specific ethnic groups. The Orem Library's Ancestry subscription includes access to United Kingdom-specific genealogical information. This resource can only be used at the Orem Library using library computers. Heritage Quest Genealogy This online tool for genealogists and historians of all types allows powerful searching of the US Census from 1790-1930, access to a huge and expanding library of books and articles on genealogical names and places, and the ability to search records of freed slaves, court petitions, etc. To access this information, log in with your library card and PIN number by clicking here, then choose “Genealogy (Heritage Quest)” on the left-side menu. NewsBank Newspapers The electronic edition of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers--all in one easy-to-search database. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. This database includes access to the Daily Herald, Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune, Park Record, Standard-Examiner, and more. Newspapers are helpful when searching for an obituary, or other local information. Newspaper Source Provides cover-to-cover full text for 35 national & international newspapers. The database also contains selective full text for 375 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are also provided. World Vital Records We are now pleased to offer at-home access to World Vital Records, in addition to our access in the Library, which provides genealogy databases and family history networking tools. World Vital Records adds content daily and includes most popular databases like Everton’s Genealogical Helper Group Sheets and Pedigree Files, and the World War II Army Enlistment Records. The Social Security Death Index (SSDI), the Ellis Island Passenger Arrival Records, Find A Grave death records, and the Small Town Papers newspaper collection are also available through the service.
