Witty Plot Summaries | Teen Area

Have you read the novel about the lion who eats a witch in a closet while some kids watch? Celebrate NaNoWriMo month by playing our one-sentence plot summary matching game and writing your own witty one-sentence plot summary. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative and funniest summaries. For ages 12–18.

Teen After Hours

Saturday, November 19 | 7–9 PM | Ashton Auditorium

From the plays of Shakespeare to the movies of today, actors have performed scenes with fighting. These carefully choreographed scenes might look like spontaneous battles, but actually are practiced until they are perfect. Come learn about this theatrical sport at a special two-hour workshop with fight choreographer Jakob Tice. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Closed-toed shoes are required. All participants must have parent permission and must sign a waiver. Sign up at bit.ly/oplteencombat. For ages 12–18.

Orem Teen Library Council

Want to help plan teen programs, get volunteer experience, and make friends at the library? The OTLC meets each month on the second Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the Sorenson Legacy Room. Dungeons & Dragons Club

Are you a teen and an avid fan of fantasy role-playing games? Bring your dice and join the Orem Library’s Dungeons & Dragons Club to meet other players, create new characters, and embark on magical quests. D&D Club meets every third Thursday from 4–6 PM. For ages 12–18.

No DMs or tutorials provided. All experience levels welcome.

Basket Weaving | Children’s Mezzanine

Did you know that basket weaving dates back thousands of years? Baskets were used by Native American tribes for everything from catching fish to holding water, and were made from materials such as pine needles, cedar bark, and swamp grass. Learn more about the techniques and art of Native American basket weaving as you use yarn and a paper template to create your own basket to take home.
