About the Orem Teen Library Council
OTLC is a group of teens between grades 7-12 that meet once a month in the library to plan teen programs, get volunteer experience through library service projects, and gain access to many behind-the-scenes experiences in the library.
Why should you join OTLC?
- Get involved in the behind-the-scenes of the library
- Gain leadership, volunteer, and service experience that look great on future college and job applications
- Check out media materials for free
- Receive letters of recommendation from the OTLC Advisor and other librarians for college and job applications
- Gain leadership experience by serving on the OTLC presidency when you are 14 years or older
What do OTLC members do?
- Attend monthly OTLC meetings, held every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the Sorenson Legacy Room, located in Library Hall
- Perform a minimum of 22 hours of service in the library outside of OTLC meetings each academic year
- Assist with planning and preparing Teen After Hours programs
- Help decorate and maintain the Teen Zone
- Write recommendations about library items for teen patrons
